We feel like November is the worst month of the year: depressing weather, no particular excitement... you start wondering how long the winter is gonna last....the only excitement this week is both the launch of MMM x H&M and the knitwear capsule collection between Topman and James Long .
James Long, the British designer of menswear and womenswear collections is famous for his unique work on leather and knitwear. About his collaboration with Topman, James said to dazeddigital that he "wanted to create a collection of knitwear that referenced all the techniques that are familiar with [his] own designs. It was inspired by all [his] favourite jumper-wearing men – Kurt Cobain, Keith Richards, The Sex Pistols..."
This great collection is composed of seven pieces combining different techniques. Obviously, Long uses wool that is produced in Britain that he mixes with other fabrics to give it a new texture, a raw effect. It is strange because it seems vintage but also has a modern touch. It is surprising how he manages to re-create a tartan pattern on one of the jumpers and it is also brilliant how he succeeds in re-creating a honeycomb on another jumper (these two pieces are our favourite, for sure).
