The perfect song for Summer days (and nights) is here my Friends! The Australian duet Empire of the Sun is back to give us good reasons to dance and smile! Their new song Alive is the first single from their new album ICE ON THE DUNE out in June!

May is definitely one of our favourite months! First because Spring is here and at last, we can put our coats and jumpers in our wardrobe, then because it's Cannes, the most glamourous and interesting film festivals and this year some heavy names are present Sofia Coppola, Jim Jarmusch, Leonardo Di Caprio, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard and so many more! And last but not least, we love May because it is the month of the most WOW, the most fashion forward, the most prestigious event of the year (forget about the Oscars or the Golden Globes): The Met Ball!

Each year, the Metropolitan Museum also known as the Met, proposes an incredible exhibition at the Costume Institute of New York, exhibition hosted by Vogue. And each year, it is an absolute event insamuch as this exhibition could only be seen there and nowhere else. Thus in the past few years, you could visit Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations (2012), Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty (2011) or Poiret: King of Fashion (2007) and the list is still long! If only we could be in NYC for the brand new exhibition! Yes, because this time it is about Punk, its influence on Fashion since the 1970s and the concept of  DIY! It will feature pieces from COMME DES GARÇONS, JUNYA WATANABE, VIVIENNE WESTWOOD, RICCARDO TISCI, HELMUT LANG, RODARTE or CHALAYAN. Hard to imagine a more complete and perfect exhibition!

Here are some pictures we took from the catalogues of the last two editions. You can easily imagine that these books have a special place in our library (and hearts).

This year, the Met Ball, the event preceding the opening of the exhibition (hard to find a synonym to this word!) will take place on May 6th, in one week on the dot and even if we are not invited ( the ticket price is around 20000$!), we cannot wait to see who will be there this time (we are pretty sure that every name that counts in the Fashion/Film/Music industry will be there wearing amazing and often unique outfits!) Imagine the best red carpet of the world ever and you will still be far from the result! No coincidence why the Met Ball is called The Night of Nights!

To conclude on a glamorous note, we chose our favourite looks from last year Met Ball.

Cate Blanchett wearing Alexander McQueen

Kirsten Dunst wearing Rodarte

Chloe Sevigny wearing Miu Miu

Lana Del Rey wearing Joseph Altuzarra

Marc Jacobs wearing Comme Des Garçons

Constance Jablonski wearing Haider Ackerman

Carey Mulligan wearing Prada

And some we (how can we say this politely?) did not really like... To respect this persons, we chose not to write their names.

Stay tuned next week for our review of the event and the selection of the best (and worst) looks of the night!

"AGI & SAM is to collaborate with TOPMAN", this sentence tasted like paradise when we heard this news (we will not bother you with all the OMFG! CRAZY! INSANE! or any other expressions of the kind). Agi Mdumulla (who studied Fashion Design at Manchester School of Art) and Sam Cotton (who studied illustration at University of Lincoln), two guys knowing good shit   when it comes to prints (they are the best) and whose collections season after season make our hearts beat like a virgin touched for the very first time. Boys and Girls who are looking for a modern bespoke wardrobe have to choose Agi & Sam for their unconventional chic pieces. "With a strong emphasis on entirely bespoke prints and humour, we believe that fashion should never be taken too seriously. We also endeavour to sit firmly in the middle of brands that fear creating something different and those which push too far", they said about their aesthetics.

Good mood, Having Fun with Fashion, Effortless Chic, Non Boring pieces are to be find in their collaboration with the British fast retailer. As usual we are very fond of all the tailored pieces, for instance the printe jackets, the bourgeois coats, the shirts, obviously we want all this collection ( "hey God if you do exist, please make our dream come true"). Agi & Sam stays true to their aesthetics with this collaboration like Margiela did for H&M by re-editing signatures pieces. Animals are often at the core of their collections, here the owl figure is the main thread but we also find pieces inspired by one of the most British hobby: football. It's a high street collection so it will be affordable for Fashion Recessionista like us ( pieces will cost from 10£ to 200£). This collaboration will hit Topman stores on May 16th.

We have always loved SWATCH because their watches are so fun, colourful, inventive and affordable. Today, while we were wandering on their website we came accross this gorgeous Flûte de Pan watch that made us crave for Summer vacations in the Andes cordillera or in a far away country where Incas used to live and the only things you can see are llamas and ponchos!

Going to Summer Festivals is the best to discover new talents. We went two years ago to La Route Du Rock Saint Malo and we felt in love with so many bands (because of the atmosphere, the setting and people over there..) But few bands really caught our attention like Still Corners did.
Berlin Lovers is the first track of their forthcoming LP Strange Pleasures that we will be available on May 7th. Let's your mind wander and be under Still Corners's Pop charm! Let's fall in love!

Clouded leopard labeled Kenzo are one of the key and must-see prints of this Summer. It is a pattern taking inspiration from Lim & Leon's holiday trip to Thailand, updating the Jungle Jap spirit of the brand with the iconic Tiger. Jungle is also the first thing that comes to our mind when you think of Joseph Turvey's SS13 collection. Joseph Turvey is a London based designer who studied Fashion design (BA in 2010) and was graduated Menswear Design and Technology at the London College of Fashion in 2012. Between 2010 and 2012, he worked with Katie Eary to master the techniques of design. Turvey's signature is definitely  the illustration prints  in bold colours.

Turvey has imagined his jungle in green, light purple, turquoise and yellow for this Summer collection. Thus, we are obessed with the green banana-tree leaves printed shirt (among which you'll find an illustration of a cat), the turquoise banana-tree leaves printed tee-shirt  (among which you'll find an illustration of a man) and its matching shorts, the all-over light purple tropical flower printed suit or the yellow tropical flower printedt tee-shirt with the light purple tropical flower printed shorts. And we particularly love the Trompe l'oeil illustrations with  a man wearing a green tee-shirt and shorts and also a man wearing a light purple tropical flower printed shirt and its matching shorts. Turvey's ss13 wardrobe got the  casual wear label with high-end techniques of design, couture is not so far with the flower lace in the beautiful green (a zip jacket and shorts) and the "shocking" black  as much as it's the only black piece (a sweatshirt and its pants).

To sum it up this Jungle Fever SS13 is a standout masterpiece of musthaves. We can't wait for The Unconventional website to display all these gorgeous items from his collection (the face illustation printed t-shirts, another gimmick in Turvey's work, from his first collection are already available on this website) and only hope that Joseph Turvey will very soon offer an online shop where we could let our spirits (and wallets) wander.

Be sure we will speak again about him very soon on W.A.R.M. because he is a real coup de cœur for us and his AW13/14 cartoonish collection (that Cruella De Vil would have loved!) must really be talked about! But for now, that's all folks!
