HEROES OF THE WEEK: DISCLOSURE



One of our biggest regrets of 2013 regarding the live shows we have attended or in that case not attended is Disclosure. Indeed, it would have been such an experience to see them performing at the Pitchfork Music Festival! But as Robbie Williams says: "No regrets they don't work, they only hurt..." or something like this. We are sure that one day (maybe in 2014?) we will be lucky (and available) enough to see them! In the meantime, let's enjoy their brand new video for Voices feat. Sasha Keable and let's dance to all their hits from their first album Settle, one of the soundtracks of our end of the year for sure!

MARC AND HIS SHOWGIRLS


You know how much we love Marc Jacobs and how much we were impressed by his last show for Louis Vuitton. And just when we thought he could not have impressed us more, here comes the ad campaign for this Spring Summer collection! And what a campaign! We have only one word: WOW! This time, with Steven Meisel the official photographer of the iconic maison, Marc Jacobs decided to put no one but his muses, all the women who have inspired him all these years, every one standing for a type of woman, a type of Louis Vuitton cliente, a generation, a spirit. What a casting! Where else could you find in the same campaign the iconic Catherine Deneuve, the über model Gisele Bündchen, the BFF Sofia Coppola, the it girls Caroline de Maigret & Fan Bingbing and nothing but the Model of the Year, Edie Campbell (no, no we are not obsessed by her! She is just THE Girl that's all!)? Just nowhere!  Of course, we could have hoped for Miuccia Prada & Rei Kawakubo (and perhaps Kate Moss?) in these campaigns, after all, Marc Jacobs have always named them his favourite designers, his role models (and let's say it, there is a lot of Comme des Garçons in this last collection) but maybe we are a little bit too wishful thinking! But let's admit it, after this campaign we are under the impression that in the Fashion world and especially in Marc Jacobs 's world, everything is just possible!

HERO OF THE WEEK: EDIE CAMPBELL



Beware, there is a new Campbell in the British Fashion sphere! Of course, we will never forget the "older" one ( Naomi you'll always be in our little fashionistos' hearts!) but now, when we will hear the name Campbell, we will also think of Edie, the cool, the lanky, the dégaine Edie Campbell! Since her hair transformation (inititated by photographer Steven Meisel) that elevated her to the rank of über model, she has been a strong, powerful yet emotional face. 2013 has definitely been her year! She opened the biggest fashion shows: Saint Laurent Paris, Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham and of course, Louis Vuitton! The last Vuitton show by Marc Jacobs where she was almost naked, wearing the LV monogram by Stephen Sprouse painted on her. Phenomenal! Edie Campbell has this je ne sais quoi, this Britishness, something deep inside her that you can also find in such girls as Cara Delevingne or Kate Moss. Unexplainable but mesmerising.
Thanks to Love Magazine and to end 2013 in the best way, each day, via their Advent Calendar, a model or a British It Girl ( Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Pixie Geldof or Candice Swanepoel to name a few) sings a capella a Christmas carol and today it is the turn of the Model of the Year at the latest British Fashion Awards, Edie Campbell and this time, she is accompanied by Dolly the Horse. " ART IS LIFE AND LIFE IS ART"

Keith Haring dedicated his own life to art by saying that art is life and life is art, having the feeling that everything around him was full of art, painting iconical symbols escaped from his childhood such as Disney characters (Mickey Mouse and Cruella de Vil) or other heroes like the Smurfs and even logos like the Coca Cola one. Just like Haring, we have chosen to become We Are Ready Made ( inspired by Ready Made Art, considering that some trivial objects can be turned into a stunning piece of art), a blog where fashion meets art and music but expressed through our own eyes. At our own level, we are standing for life being expressed through our relationship to how putting clothes together. Like Haring we believe that fashion and art can change the world after a long proccess of small revolutions and also that fashion and art can definitely work together.

Tom Hirota created JOYRICH , a L.A based brand under the direction of Taka Okunde and David Melgar, well-known for its Pop Art trademarks identity throught its multi-collaborations collections with Keith Haring, Malcom Stuart, Betty Boop, Disney, Giza, The Simpsons and many others: "drawing on a variety of design sources, Joyrich blends the essence of several styles to create balance pieces that are always fun to wear and suggest an aura of casualness and richness [...] the team's mix influences culminates with a retro-future flair inspired by iconic items of past collections to create the brand's unique and characteristic Joyrich colourful pop textiles."
JOYRICH explores not only the relationships between fashion and art , but also the impact of Pop culture in fashion, from Giza attitude to never wanna grow old spirit of Disney collabs. It is playful, not pretentious and very daring. JOYRICH looks like pieces of art, but it is not art at all. In a way, JOYRICH is the reflection of people's images of their own childhood, obviously speaking to one's Peter Pan inside. Keith Haring said that art is alive because of people's relationship to it. That's probably the case for JOYRICH's fans.
