This is Paris Fashion Week, we don't need to tell you, here are presented the most prestigious maisons de couture and we have already spotted some incredible collections such as Dries Van Noten who, never looks backwards but instead keeps repeating to himself that the best is always to come and who delivered a masterpiece collection with boyish looks and 2D prints vs 3D flowers or Alexander Wang for Balenciaga who also presented a collection with no inhibitions, taking for himself the codes of the famous fashion house by writing his own story for Balenciaga (at last, Nicolas Ghesquière's heavy ghost seems far away!) and as he said to WWD about this latest AW14 collection he wanted to "introduce a knitwear vocabulary to Balenciaga". Today, another designer who re-created a quintessential atmosphere from the 90s who was lacking on the catwalks: Girls with Attitude! We have no doubt that on Olivier Rousteing's moodboard the word was BITCH with strong extravagant body-conscious looks. Hyper sophisticated (almost couture) pencil skirts reminding us of Alaïa's signature.

Ok, in Paris there are all those great, gigantic fashion shows but there are also young designers who deserve to be under the spotlights and who are the Ones to Watch such as Benjamin Bertram who presented at the latest Who's Next his collection Suburban Boys which attract the attention of fashion media. We had already a crush on him when we discovered him on the website Not Just A Label and more particularly when we saw his gorgeous cropped neoprene sweaters. He graduated in 2012 at Sheffield Hallam University with a first class BA Hons Fashion Design Degree. It was very important for us to talk about him because his SS14 collection Logans Run re-editing some pieces of his graduate collection is about to be available in selected stores such as The Unconventional who always has the guts to support young talents.
His aesthetic can be defined by such words as Boldness, Avant Garde and Minimalism and he always tries to look for a sharp tailoring. The Bertram look is composed of a structured, cropped white jacket worn over a black polo neck that you match with some loose cropped pants. This is what we definitely love with Benjamin Bertram, this less is more attitude where all his pieces speak for themselves. These pieces are often black, a colour that can seem easy but with the designer, we can see something new and something daring in this colour. Benjamin Bertram creates collections for boys (and girls) who have no limits and who fear nothing! Boys (and girls) with no inhibitions! All his jackets and tops are musthaves and more especially those worn in the video made for Suburban Boys. While watching this short movie we were like on drugs so beware his garments can create a nice addiction! So keep in mind his name because his look will make it to the streets soon!
