We are not gonna lie, it is not a secret yes we love Cheap Monday and of course, you already know it. We love the easiness and coolness of their clothes and their skinny jeans are our daily basis so when there is a new Cheap Monday collection going out, we cannot wait to see what will come out of the heads of the designing team. Moreover, we love their special collections which are often very interesting such as their Pre-Spring who was a street-inspired collection full of graffiti prints.

This time, the Swedish brand has released two brand new collections: one called Screens & Dreams (one of their express collections) and their Pre-Fall, Secrets & Lies. As we have already said, their skinny jeans are the basis of our uniforms, hard to imagine an outfit without a pair of Cheap Monday jeans and it is always a pleasure to add a Cheap Monday top, there is always a twist either in the print or in the shape and we are not afraid to pick what was meant to be a girl's tee-shirt in an oversized size just to satisfy our fashionisto desires! This time, there are a lot of prints to suit all tastes: flowers, crying eyes or big logos (their trademarks).

The Screen & Dreams Express collection has a dark romantic side. The print is a mix of flowers and stormy sky that would have surely appealed to the painter Turner. We particularly love the slogan tee "The last time I had a salad was never", disilusioned and funny at the same time and the so cool total look for girls (printed top + printed skirt).

There is also a dark side to the Pre-Fall, Secrets & Lies but no romanticism here. It is a rawer point of view, very 90s, "very Portland". The jeans are ripped all over and the acid-wash denim is worn in total look. The famous skull logo is enhanced with a blue tear and the traditional denim jackets are re-worked with a more grunge look (a frayed neckline and a contrasting washing out) In other words, it is the Cheap Monday savoir faire but with a little je ne sais quoi making this collection highly desirable!

You can shop these collections here on the Cheap Monday website.

Huge thanks to the Independent Fashion Bloggers who have selected W.A.R.M. once again for their weekly Links a La Mode! If you haven't read our featured article it's HERE and if you want to read some other cool blog posts, you'll find 19 links above. Enjoy!

Fashion Reality

This week, it took me a long, long time to curate the links, not because of lack of quality, but because there were so many interesting topics to explore. Look Sharp Sconnie, let her facial hair grow to make a point about femininity and documented it beautifully. Vic Styles pondered if you wear the same clothes, can you be stylish? My Fashion S/ash Life found some remarkably stylish gents. And Pupuren discussed the phenomenon of photographing oneself, how one's face changes. (I know this from experience). We may put a face on for the digital world, but there are always a few brave enough to take off the mask.

Thinking of the last decade and how we used to dress, makes us realise the importance of the slim/skinny black denim jeans in every man's wardrobe. The silhouette of the 00's is the one Hedi Slimane has created and every boy and even girl dreams to have the full look. It's striking how it has changed everything. Slimane's style is still relevant and more than ever now as he is in charge of the Saint Laurent collections, responsible for the return of the Grunge attitude. It is highly difficult to ignore Slimane's influence in fashion as every high street brand is now copying him. But Raf Simons aesthetic is definitely the new shape and his silhouette is expressing the modernity of this decade. His collections are less obvious to copy because of the boldness and uniqueness of both the fabrics and the shapes. Avant-garde pieces have nothing to do with high street market and it would be a commercial suicide if any brands tried to do the same.

Fathers: Announcing the Birth of Raf Simons/Sterling Ruby, Editorial on Spring/Summer 2014 Arena Homme +
Raf Simons has created what he calls an interzone which he describes as "a place with extremes, with no rules and a lot of attitudes". Each collection will be an exploration of a new interzone. It is like a playground, full of Simons's obsessions and excentricities. His AW14 collaboration with Sterling Ruby is not another collection, but it was the right time to start over by editing a new language of fashion and presenting something which expresses the work of the two artists.  This collection is like a patchwork of memories and stories written and displayed on the clothes. A complex story having different level of understanding, but taking its obvious inspiration from both Simons and Ruby's love of Punk and D.I.Y collages. This collab/collection is a statement on its own, delivering an abstract rebel manifesto as much as OMFG pieces which are daring and bold. We are far from the Pop culture logo-like prints of the SS14 collection, here it is tumblr ramdom obsession pictures (earth, meteors, hands...), acid bleach tie and dye prints, color block, camos, Abus Lang (contraction of abusive language) and Fathers written in large and small letters on the clothes like a kind of signature or logo. This collection is good for both the mind and the body and it is perhaps what Simons and Ruby are suggesting, questioning people's relationships and addiction to social networks and the overdose of communications. "I've come to really question the system. As much as I am part of it, I have to question it for the simple reason that I wonder how far it can go...I don't think I'm the only one. It's not about fashion either, it's the way we consume, the way we communicate and the way the young generation looks at things," he said in an interview to Dazed Digital.
We really want to get into the AW14 interzone, but these pieces look like price on request pieces. We are still not over the SS14 New Shapes manifesto, thinking of the dresses t-shirts and the neo Adidas and still hesitating. Now we have to consider this AW14 collab, thinking of the "fathers" long and cropped sweaters, the bomber jackets, the patchwork knitwears and the camel belted coats at the end of the runway. Remember we have a great affliction  about Raf Simons and we have to confess it's not going to stop!

Working with Jump From Paper in 2013 was one of the highlights of our year (the feedbacks on the blog were so good!), being lucky enough to collaborate with such a cool brand is one of the reasons why we love being bloggers! Not for the gifts even if it is always a pleasure & an honour (and Christmas in May is a delicious feeling!) but because they are giving us this great opportunity to combine two worlds (theirs & ours) and make them our own.
So you can imagine how happy we were when the Jump From Paper team contacted us once again to extend this collaboration! It matched the second anniversary of We Are Ready Made, it was a sign so of course, we said YES! We don't know many brands as "transgenerational" as Jump From Paper. Kids love our bags, our sisters & brothers too and we don't even mention Charles's mother who look at our bags with puppy-dog eyes. For us, that's the definition of a brand: being able to speak to everybody, no matter how old they are or where they are from.
Our choice went for these two IN-CRE-DI-BLE backpacks: the Wanderlust (the green one) & the Spaceman (the red one) which are perfect for struggling with this urban jungle we live in or more simply, for a season of music festivals, of chilling in parks and visiting far away places.

On the left: the WANDERLUST backpack; On the right: the SPACEMAN Backpack

Our motto here at We Are Ready Made is "Like It Or Not We Do Not Care" something quite similar to the Jump From Paper "I Give Myself Permission To Be Me", so in a way, this collaboration seems quite natural. Indeed, the world we all live in doesn't give a large space to those who want to be different from the others, to those who decided to avoid a kind of robot way of life and you have to fight for this freedom of expression everyday! We are trying to put into practice this need for being ourselves in all our articles & outfits so being able to work with Jump From Paper and to feature their bags on our blog is something meaning a lot to us.
Here is a look at their 2014 lookbook featuring new shapes, fun colours and always this unique and cool state of mind (and a very cute One-Way Ticket bag!). After all, life is boring enough so let's have fun, let's smile & laugh. In other words, let's be alive!

To celebrate our second Anniversary, the Jump From Paper team has created a special code for you dear Readers! So if you want to jump into that crazy world of cartoon, if you want to own one (or more) of these amazing bags, use this code to get a cool discount! But be quick, you have until next Thursday to use it and thus to become part of the Jump From Paper club!

Thank you to Sylvia Tzeng & the Jump From Paper Team for being so nice & cool and, thanks to Asmae for her pictures!
